Astonishing marine life cycles. Many seabed creatures start life in the plankton. This late-stage planktonic crab larva, called a megalopa, is about to leave the plankton to begin its adult life on the seabed. (You can see the remnants of the zoea's dorsal spine.)

At least 14 phyla in tis one Plymouth sample: Dinoflagellata, Bacillariophyta, Haptophyta, Arthropoda, Annelida, Phoronida, Cnidaria, Chordata Mollusca, Ctenophora and Echinodermata.

It's not OK to dispose of vapes into the hedgerow. A moronic behaviour. I see so many disposable vapes discarded on my country walks and I also see them floating at sea when I'm sampling plankton. So sad.
