A new collaboration between researchers from Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC), SNOLAB, and Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden has been awarded a new grant to investigate the impact of radiation and cosmic rays on quantum technologies.

New #quantum research from IQC's Dr. Norbert Lütkenhaus and Florian Kanitschar has focused on the sub-field of quantum key distribution that uses pulses of weak laser light combined with continuous measurement, known as continuous variable QKD (CV-QKD).

IQC grad students Alex Maierean and Luke Neal are incorporating QKD into LiDAR sensors.

To test the long range sensors, they've gotten creative, finding QNC's longest hallways and pointing the sensor out a window at targets up to 1 km away.
