Well didn’t go very well. I think the square stock was too thin. It was also very impure so it just flaked away. So I am going to try thicker material. This is going to be a journey. Come hell or high water I’m going to follow through until it’s done.

Put some more time into this one. Added handle scales and did a lot…a lot of grinding to pull down some of the file texture. Happy with the results and it was fun to make.

She’s baking. Going to leave her in for about 35 to 40 minutes. Then I will start the video of the forging.

She is all welded up. Ready to try and make some 1084 powdered steel into a solid steel knife with copper highlights. This is going to be interesting. I am going to be part blacksmith part alchemist. Wish me luck!

If you look at the blade you can see the 32 from the serial number stamped in the leaf spring. Leopard wood scales.

Big shoutout to Randall Blademaker, he made a knife for me YEARS ago now and that thing STILL cut through a rack of ribs tonight like nothing. I checked the edge after cutting through the bones, no damage whatsoever. Definitely a high quality blade, you should check him out!

Made a knife today from a file. The metal was so hard I couldn’t get a drill bit through it, hence the temporary leather handle. I do like it, though.

All heat treated. Now I have to forge the cross guard and pommel. The cross guard is going to be tricky because it will overlap the ricasso coming to a point in line with the fuller. The pommel will be shield shaped.

This sheath was fun to make and quite different from most of the sheaths I’ve done, but how about we make this a blade appreciation post. Look at that beauty!!

RydertheRed The universe brought us together. I mentioned to a friend I was going to start making knives. A week later he called me and said he found a anvil clearing a lot to build a house. It was buried with just the tip of the horn exposed. He dug it up and gave it to me. I cleaned it up.
