More little owl excitement as two have been spotted! These are the smallest owls in the UK and have a very good camouflage against trees and hedgerows.

Just 9 moths of 8 species in yesterday morning's cool sodden moth trap RSPB Newport Wetlands but did include 4 NFYs, an early Poplar Hawk-moth, a Pebble Prominent, a couple of Muslin Moths and the first Fame Shoulder. #MothsMatter #VC35 #teammoth South Wales BC
We had the best day at RSPB Newport Wetlands. We found lots of new minibeasts, took part in pond dipping and was so amazed at what we found. We learned so much and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves ❤️.... part 1

RSPB Warbler heaven @ RSPB Newport Wetlands yesterday! Unseen but definitely heard were Cette's, Reed & Sedge & Reed Warblers. Willow Warbler also heard together with a glimpse of a lesser Whitethroat & some pictures of the Whitethroat, Blackcap and Chiff-Chaff in full voice!

During a nice sunny interval RSPB Newport Wetlands Wetlands this afternoon two almost pristine butterflies landed opposite the kiosk. Our first Orange tip of the year lived up to its name and the Brimstone was almost as vivid.
