There were 13 wader species seen across the reserve, with a flock of 8 Greenshank, 1 Bar-tailed Godwit and 1 Ringed Plover being the highlights. Still a good number of Mediterranean Gulls are being seen on the Main Scrape, where 2 Ruff showed most of the day. #sightings #waders

Pretty little Goldcrest from early this morning 😍 RSPB Burton Mere Wetlands

13 Whimbrel showing well on the Main Scrape for most of the morning was the highlight of the day. Difficult birds to see well locally, so it was great to be able to catch up with these waders. A Red Kite was also see from Burton Point, the 2nd #sightings in 3 days.

If you're visiting the reserve - or anywhere in the outdoors - this #spring , be mindful of not playing bird calls or songs from personal devices like phones.
This can impact birds' breeding success, and disturbance of any wild #bird whilst nesting is against the law.

Another lovely day with 10 Mediterranean Gulls being seen on the Main Scrape all day. Spotted Redshank were at Centenary Pool and a Peregrine hunted across the reserve giving great views #wildlife #sightings

A Red Kite spent a few minutes circling over the Visitor Centre this afternoon, which was great to see. The female Scaup was again on Bridge Pool and Lesser Whitethroat was by the barn. #sightings

Hen Harrier, Yellow Wagtail, Garden Warbler. Mediterranean Gull and Wheatear were just some of the great highlights from today. #sightings

It's finally dried out enough to patch up the potholes.

To give the wardens a little extra time the reserve will open slightly later this Friday (19) @ 9:30am.

Had a wander around RSPB Burton Mere Wetlands and Burton Point this morning. The highlight was 3 smart summer-plumaged Spotted Sandpipers, but also saw Ruddy Shelduck, Willow Warbler and several Northern Wheatears.

A dull start became a beautiful afternoon for our lovely visitors. The Arctic Tern remained from yesterday for most of the morning on the Main Scrape, with 4 Mediterranean Gulls.A single Yellow Wagtail was seen near to the barn, where a Lesser Whitethroat occasionally sang.
