There was a delay in defusing the WWII bomb found during dredging work, but defusing was successfully completed and blockades will be lifted.

UPDATE:
One detonator was successfully removed and a second one requires additional equipment. Crews are continuing to work.

The defusing of the WWII bomb has begun in Kaiserslautern. We will update when it is safe to go back to the area.

The downtown area of Kaiserslautern has been evacuated for citizens’ safety. Please avoid the area until further notice.
