We are overwhelmed by the response to Gary’s death. The outpouring of kind words is appreciated by all of us. We shared many voyages. He will forever be our crew. He was not just our helmsman, he was a kind man, a gentle man, a generous man and a Glensman. #redbaylifeboat #RNLI

We at Red Bay lifeboat station have lost one of our own, with the sudden death of our beloved collegue Gary Fyfe A Coxswain with our All-Weather lifeboat.

As we deal with his loss our thoughts are with his wife, Clare and his two beautiful children, Eleanor and Alexander.

RNLI Red Bay RNLI launched this evening 14th August after a 18ft boat caught fire south of Rathlin Island. Two people recovered from the water by passing yacht and transferred to Ballycastle by lifeboat crew. Vessel later sank.
Both crew now safe and well.
