Lenny Zhou 🇨🇦🇺🇦 Vancouver School Board Victoria Jung Yes, which is why the province introduced the idea four months ago. This is not a new idea and shouldn’t require a motion when there are far more pressing issues affecting student learning and staff wellness in Vancouver School Board

Preeti Faridkot Victoria Jung ABC Vancouver I don’t understand why this is the motion everyone is looking forward to, when it’s simply an initiative brought forward 4 months ago by the NDP and there are so many more pressing issues that need to be prioritized to ensure all students are getting their needs met in Vancouver School Board

Sarah Kirby-Yung 楊瑞蘭 Why publicize this motion in particular when there are far more important issues at hand in Vancouver School Board including not enough support staff to ensure students with disabilities are having their human right to education met? Cell phone ban is the least of our worries.

Mike Klassen 麥嘉信 Victoria Jung Vancouver School Board I’m confused about why this motion is necessary given that the province announced in January that they would be working with districts to create cell phone restriction policies…seems to me there are more important motions to be bringing forward in Vancouver School Board

Tomorrow evening Vancouver School Board trustees will be asked to approve the 2024/2025 budget that district staff prepared. They heard from multiple stakeholders and delegations about insufficient staffing levels and the related impact to mental health of students & staff in the district. 1/4

Vancouver's housing shortage is OVER 100k homes.

Vancouver's multiplex plan was designed to produce 150-200 applications per year. A few hundred net new homes at best!

Staff say this policy is having a 'medium' impact on housing supply.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry

‘Affirming support for the belief of “better dead than disabled” in health care is dangerous and cruel. Update: they added an “all of the above” option. Not good enough Vancouver School Board The public doesn’t get to have a role in deciding if others have a right to be included in schools. Schools must be accessible, safe, inclusive of all learners. What aren’t you getting?!?!

Parents of kids who face barriers feel it's not acceptable for school districts to be asking everyone to rank kids' inclusion needs. We think all these kids have a legal right to an education. Are we wrong? Vancouver School Board seems to think so.

The procedures that Vancouver School Board have put in place for speaking at delegation meetings make the process highly inaccessible to many. As a result, the November meeting was cancelled because of too few delegations (only 1), Monday’s meeting had 1 speaker and adjourned after 10min.

The VSB continues to deny + deflect the experiences of students, parents + employees.

It’s a crazy-making experience for many of us.

The staffing shortages for support workers at Vancouver School Board is incredibly obvious to anyone spending time in schools and particularly for kids with disabilities. Vancouver School Board's denial of the problem is an abdication of their responsibility. cbc.ca/news/canada/br…

Thank you so much Hilary Thomson (She/her) for doing this excellent interview! As Scott said, the response from Vancouver School Board to parent and union concerns has been “weak” and students with disabilities have a human right to get the supports they need to access education. globalnews.ca/bc/program/wee…

Thoughts before , after the : has been waiting too long through successive governments regardless of political party. Disabled Kids and their families are exhausted from advocating. Please MLAs, step up and make some noise about this huge gap.

It's a set up, pitting one group of people who are oppressed against another. A bizarre question about where to spend the money at the VSB.

Pop quiz: pick one way to spend money to improve equity in Vancouver School Board. Just one. Never mind the fact that school districts have a responsibility to do all of these things and human rights are violated if they don’t. (screenshot is of the Vancouver School Board budget survey).
