“Sometimes the law can do bad things
and this has to be challenged. One way to do that is to tell stories about the law” (Baroness Helena Kennedy QC, 2020).
Thanks to PILS for the invite to tell my story about the law and quest for environmental justice for my river

This has huge implications for rural dwelling planning, for recent approvals, and for those that are intent on justifying dwellings into gaps that are actually important for our countryside. The Royal Society of Ulster Architects @RTPINI

For a project that’s aiming to “deepen connections between communities on both sides of the border”, it’s incredibly disappointing to hear that the fairy tree in Cornamucklagh, Omeath has been removed as part of the groundwork for the Narrow Water Bridge.

I see the Earl complaining about unlawful extraction when his Estate was unlawfully stripping Lough bed for 30 yrs! Has given legal rights to dredgers to exploit the Lough for another 23!

To acquire the Lough we may have to buy out Earl AND the dredgers!

Fantastic news! Well done Gordon!

“I think the right to a healthy environment is actually the foundation that we require to enjoy all other human rights. If we don’t have a living, healthy planet Earth, then all the other rights are just words on paper.”

“INEOS has previously called for the UK government to exempt the chemicals sector from climate taxes and lobbied aggressively to open the UK up to fracking.” - ClientEarth

It’s a tragedy how the beautiful game has become a vehicle for greenwashing.

It looks like the construction of the Narrow Water bridge is imminent. Does anyone know if the design has been finalised? Will it end up looking like the artist’s impression below from 2008? If so, does this design align with calls to extend the ‘Ancient East’ into South Down?

In 2022, John O' Dowd sanctioned the felling of healthy mature oak trees at Greenbank Industrial Estate in Newry.

He then evaded Justin McNulty’s questions about this decision in the NI Assembly.

Now O’Dowd is back in office, it’s time for him to give some much needed answers.

This is what Ireland's 'just' transition looks like: enclosed networks of private wind/solar energy + data centres on former bogs. Not good for workers, people or the environment.

“A tourist visiting the Norwegian Arctic archipelago of Svalbard has been fined more than £900 for getting too close to a walrus. Why did he do it? He was after a good picture, the police prosecutor believes.”

Just right. Nature is not a Disney film.

This is a sad and dark day for football. Saudi Aramco just bought the game’s biggest platform to sell its dirty fossil fuels and clean up its grim reputation. To protect the sport we love, we need to stop this deal.
