No, it's not an infestation of boring insects in the lab; this week my PhD work has focussed on filtering stream water from above and below beaver wetlands then preparing samples of the filter paper (hole-punched!) to measure carbon and nitrogen in the sediment and solid load.

Really enjoyed my first lab demonstrating today, where Dr Kirsten Thompson Kirsten Thompson introduced students to checking on (bird) diversity changes using Excel methods, then by installing and using R/RStudio. Very impressed with how they got on! Exeter Biosciences

Positive signs from the 'Stage 0' project at Holnicote, which reconnected the River Aller to its floodplain.

A deluge of rain fell on Exmoor recently, but the new waterscape held water as planned, helping to prevent flooding and expanding the new habitat.
