Last night, Geelong landmarks lit up purple as part of National Domestic Violence Remembrance Day and @safestepsfv Candlelight Vigil in remembrance of the women and children who have been killed as a result of family violence.

Amazing work by The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre MELI, & Geelong Regional Libraries in running the candlelight vigil in #Geelong last night to recognise & mourn women murdered by men’s violence! It was great 2 see so many men in attendance & local business’ shining purple lights in solidarity #VAW #GBV #endVAW

Tonight we light a candle in honour and remembrance of the women and children who have been killed as a result of family violence. We acknowledge the trauma of friends and family members who have lost loved ones. We hold those currently living with violence in our thoughts.

It takes courage for someone to disclose sexual assault. How you respond can make a big difference.
Sometimes words aren't needed and simply listening without judgement can be the biggest support.
