I wrote about an exciting union drive at Occidental College: undergraduate student workers are forming a union with SEIU 721 - and come ready to fight any challenges the college throws at them

Yesterday, members of our Civic Engagement team joined a rally at USD held by Non-Tenure Track (NTT) Faculty and SEIU 721. They came together to uplift the voices of faculty and students recognizing that the staff needs work benefits and #betterpay .

You probably saw the news—yesterday, California fast food workers officially started to make $20/hr. It’s a life-changing moment workers have fought for and shows that when working people fight and WIN, sector wide changes for workers are possible.

Fast food giants are stirring panic over CA's $20/hr minimum wage, but let's look at the numbers:

McDonald's CEO is paid $8,543.27 an hour.

Burger King’s CEO is paid $56,250 an hour.

Domino’s CEO is paid $4,875 an hour.

Just throwing that out there. These companies can pay…
