Eltham was a sizable and luxurious medieval palace used by the Plantagenet kings who enjoyed its access to vast royal hunting grounds. When Henry VII developed Greenwich palace, just four miles away, into an important royal residence, Eltham became the royal nursery.

The proposed flat development at Falconwood is being recommended for approval by council planners, Meridian Home Start have agreed a two-storey reduction in height, to seven.
The 62 flat development - down from 70 - would be on the site of the flats opposite Falconwood station.

Another bank branch closure in Eltham, the Nat West is closing on 20 August, following Barclays departure in February.
