Kevin, thanks for plugging our Parallelograms. Free content for ages 10 to 16.

And, of course, Kevin has lots of great paid courses and free content at linktr.ee/mathsaurus - definitely worth exploring.

One of my students yesterday was telling me how much they enjoy Simon Singh's Parallelograms - these are free weekly math challenges with 15-30 minutes of fun maths, including a lot of great story, context and history etc. too!

Actually, this has happened quite a few times with…

Great new book on parasychology by@chriscfrench out now. The title makes it sounds like a book that Gillian McKeith would write.

Maths teachers, do you have kids sitting UKMT Olympiad papers on Thursday (or any keen teens). I am running two zoom webinars (100 places each) offering top tips on how to do well. They can register via:
Sunday 10am us02web.zoom.us/meeting/regist…
Monday 8pm us02web.zoom.us/meeting/regist…

Terrific news. Hugely deserved. A celebration of akward genius. Full-frontal nerdity. If you can afford to treat yourself, Monday £40 for front row, £20 for standing. Declaration of interest ... I put some ££ into getting this to the West End because it was so bloody brilliant.

As @slsingh pointed out at yesterday's , the UK arguably leads the world in maths communication - be that through books, videos, podcasts or live speaker events.

In short, we can communicate the importance and joy of maths until the cows come home, but we already have many, many budding mathematicians who fall through the holes because schools don't have the teachers and resources to support them through secondary school.

Okay ... I'll admit ... I don't know how to write a twitter thread, so single posts for the last couple and you can try and fit them together.

🧵 When I was in high school, my physics teacher casually mentioned during lecture that “the number zero is neither odd nor even”. I knew he was wrong; we ended up getting in an argument about it at the end of which he still didnt agree with me. I wasn’t going to let it drop

My last tweet about this ... we have had some great CVs, but really keen to find people who can do 8+ hours of maths tutoring per week.
Just imagine 3 hours per evening, 5 nights/week = £412, just for teaching strong, motivated state school kids.
