When Gov Doug Ducey opposed the AZ initative in 2020, voters ignored him.

When Gov Governor Mike Parson opposed the MO intiative in 2022, voters ignored him.

When Gov Mike DeWine opposed the OH initaitve in 2023, voters ignored him.

IMO, FL voters will largely ignore Ron DeSantis.

Good news! The Dean of The Wharton School and the President of Philadelphia Fed talking about Second Chance hiring. This would have been unthinkable 5 years ago. Progress!!!

Happy publication day to Lauren-Brooke (L.B.) Eisen and so many of my Brennan Center colleagues! This new book draws on a wide array of perspectives and ideas to explain what went wrong, how, and why in our criminal justice system. I’m proud to have played a small part.

While politicians debate measures to increase the prison population, no one is asking who is going to, you know, staff the prisons.

I just spent much of my weekend reading the latest issue of Vital City, which is quickly becoming the crime nerds' New Yorker, i.e. we love all the articles but feel deep remorse and guilt when we inevitably can't keep current.

I have serious concerns about the implications of rescheduling but FWIW the treaties aren't one of them. Every expert I've talked to - not connected to the industry - agrees that rescheduling is not legalization and would easily be compliant with treaties (h/t Steve Rolles).
