If so, why did her husband hold back his “Clinton parameters” during the summit only to release them afterwards and unleash a series of meaningful talks that continued until Ariel Sharon got elected PM. of Israel? This is crap. Her husband MAJORLY screwed up. Primarily his fault.

CCNY president Vince Boudreau, who ordered the violent arrests of divestment protesters, was a leader in the South Africa divestment movement when he was a grad student at Cornell and engaged in the very practices (including property destruction) he used to justify the crackdown

When two-thirds of the people killed in Gaza are women and children, when you block humanitarian aid, you’re not just going after Hamas. You’re going after the entire Palestinian people.

My predecessor Patrick Leahy wrote the law that bans U.S. aid to foreign military units that violate human rights, yet multiple administrations have failed to equally implement the law.

My colleagues and I are calling for the consistent application of the Leahy Law to the IDF.

Students jailed for doing what students have done on a variety of issues for decades….Criminalization of protest plus dehumanization of Palestinians plus militarization of police equals this bullsh*t.

Yet again:
1) Hamas offers to release the hostages in return for a permanent ceasefire and an Israeli withdrawal
2) Israel demands the release of the hostages in return for only a temporary ceasefire
3) Biden then blames Hamas for “rejecting Israel’s ceasefire proposals.”

I discourage people from using the phrase 'River to the Sea' because so many Jews have been convinced it's a about genocide. As I note in this article, however, both historically and among most who use the phrase today, it's actually a call for equality.

There were mass arrests of pro-Palestinian students at both Columbia & the City University of New York on the same evening last week. While Columbia students were booked on misdemeanors, CUNY students were charged with felonies.
Wonder if race & class had anything to do with it?

Why is it when riot police uproot peaceful encampments, arrest students and professors and spray them with mace, described as a “clash”?

Starting this evening, Jews aroung the world will be commemorating YomHashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. There are a dwindling number of survivors nowadays, but let those of us born in later years never forget.

We really are having a crisis of democracy in the United States. Polls show sizable majorities oppose U.S. policy but the Biden administration, with overwhelming bipartisan support in Congress, keeps supporting Israel's war on the people of Gaza.

A short essay by a senior British diplomat who resigned 20 years ago in response to the lies by the U.S. and British governments about the supposed military threat from Iraq. His career was ruined while those responsible for the lies went unpunished. carneross.substack.com/p/hard-truths-…

Here's a short article summarizing my talk on antisemitism and the pro-Palestinian movement a couple months ago for educators in Malmö. It includes a link to the lecture: pedagog.malmo.se/bloggposter/st…

Maybe, just maybe, the mainstream media can focus a little less on colleges for a moment. Maybe they can take their cameras to Gaza and show us the emaciated children who are dying of malnutrition due to Netanyahu’s policies. Maybe they can show us the suffering going on there.

Citing the police like this is bad journalism. Police, notably the NYPD, have a long history of disinformation and misinformation in support of their agenda. Fithian is a nonviolence trainer, and that training makes things safer for everyone. Cops too.

Here’s a second interview I did for Al-Jazeera English yesterday on the student protests and their impact. It took place just as police were raiding the UCLA encampment and I was in an outdoor café in a fishing village on a Swedish island. mediaview.aljazeera.com/video/OayFi8ig…
