This is happening now & is very exiting with 364 participants connected. Targeted next-gen sequencing has great potential in diagnosing drug resistant TB (DR-TB), including resistance to new drugs. Over half of people with DR-TB are currently being missed & this is unacceptable.

Suvanand Sahu speaks passionately about both the good + bad news in the TB response

Good: Historic ambition + new tools
Bad: Available domestic + global TB financing is FAR from meeting the need

Stop TB Partnership Global Plan to End TB says we need $22B/yr but right now we're at $6B/yr

Aptly called a 'Different Kind of Gap'. If not filled urgently, this gap could lead to needless sufferings and deaths due to Tuberculosis. This is just the gap in country applications to Global Fund. The gaps in country plans are even bigger.

During my trip, I met with U.S. Ambassador Eric Garcetti Eric Garcetti to discuss the decades-long US-India partnership. We covered many topics including technology's role in the work to end TB, primary health care’s power to reduce early mortality, and steps we can take to address lead exposure.
