These rights are not being fully realised and we must address the barriers that exist for our young people with learning disabilities to fulfil these rights. The lack of appropriate community spaces tailored to children and young people’s specific needs is a prevalent issue.

A child with a disability has the right to live a full and decent life with dignity and, as far as possible, independence and to play an active part in the community. Every child has a right to relax, play and take part in a wide range of cultural and artistic activities.

Together 🧡 Michael Whitfield The event celebrated the countdown to incorporation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in Scots law and highlighted the crucial involvement of children and young people in the UNCRC (incorporation) (Scotland) Bill receiving Royal Assent and passing into an Act.
