Heatwaves are part of climate change

India ranks 7th in the Global Climate Risk Index, facing significant vulnerability to climate-induced disasters. It loses up to $87 billion annually to natural calamities. Unescap says India may lose 35% of GDP to climate change by 2100.

The number of heatwave days is expected to double in 2024. In 2020 there were 4 days, in 2021 there were 3 days & in 2022 17 heatdays. There has also been an 80 percent rainfall deficiency between March 1 and April 2, 2024.
