The name Black April Memorial Month symbolizes the suffering of the Vietnamese who fled their nation during Saigon’s fall to communism on April 30, 1975. Since that time, the Vietnamese community in California has become one of the most vibrant in the U.S.

In California, we have more than 200 diverse mosques and religious centers. It is imperative that we fight against all discrimination and stand in solidarity with our Muslim communities. I was so proud to rise in support of American Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month.
