Last night, the Rent Guidelines Board (RGB) voted on preliminary increases for rent-stabilized apartments - they approved 2% to 4.5% hikes on one-year leases & for two-year leases, the range is 4% to 6.5%.

Amid a housing crisis, this is indefensible.

The Rent Guidelines Board voted to consider rent increases as high as 6.5% last night, laying bare how dangerously out of touch they are with our affordability crisis.

So impressed by Sure We Can. Nothing but respect and admiration for our city’s canners!

They’re called lateros; huishou; canners: the 8,000 New Yorkers who pick cans out of our trash to recycle.

Today, I visited Sure We Can’s canning community in Brooklyn, where canners recycle 1 million bottles a month!

These folks are the heroes of our green economy.

Wherever you go, there you are.

Grateful for another year.

Days like yesterday remind me of the capacity we have for love and friendship, and that despite living in a world that insists we’re never enough — it appears that all along we are the ones we were searching for.
