Beyond that, I can only echo his own words: We can have the world of our dreams tomorrow, but we have to be willing to fight today.

Storytelling should not just be about representing marginalized people, it should be about FREEING marginalized people.
Thinking about Rafaat Alareer who before he was killed by an Israeli airstrike last year, wrote,
'telling stories was my way of resisting
It was all I could do'

And he’s talking about Love in the context of Freedom, and speaking Truth to power. Not merely the amorous thing

What if the SFF world shut down for Gaza? What if there were no more cons, no more awards until the Genocide was over? With over 30,000 people dead in 5 months I'm dreaming about collectively redirecting speculative storytelling towards a radically different anti-imperial world

I'm incredibly happy & humbled that two of my stories are Nebula award finalists! SHIGIDI AND THE BRASS HEAD OF OBALUFON (best novel) & SATURDAY'S SONG (best novelette). Wow. To be nominated in 2 categories is surreal. Thanks everyone. And congratulations to my fellow finalists!
