Rishi Sunak's swimming pool uses so much energy, he has had to upgrade the local electricity network to meet its power demands.

Meanwhile, 350 leisure centres are closing due to soaring energy bills.

First they came for the refugees, then they came for drag queens and trans men & women, next up was protesters, then they came for lawyers, next was the turn of climate presenters and national treasures, and now they’ve come for sports presenters.
You don’t have to agree with all

The BBC has decided not to broadcast an episode of David Attenborough’s flagship new series on British wildlife because of fears its themes of the destruction of nature would risk a backlash from Tory politicians and the rightwing press theguardian.com/media/2023/mar…

So, this afternoon the BBC gives in to fascists over Gary Lineker’s support for asylum seekers and on David Attenborough’s desire to highlight the impact of climate change. Fascism isn’t a threat. It is happening here and now, with the BBC enabling it.

I have never known such love and support in my life than I’m getting this morning (England World Cup goals aside, possibly). I want to thank each and every one of you. It means a lot. I’ll continue to try and speak up for those poor souls that have no voice. Cheers all. 👊🏻

NHS pay talks with the government start today. Our strike action is paused while the talks are taking place.

We’ve had assurances that the government will put in extra money for this year and next year’s pay.

They’ve been forced to move to this position - and to open talks -

If the Retained EU Law Bill passes, on Jan 1st, 2024 we could lose:

🔹Holiday pay
🔹Agency worker rights
🔹Rights to maternity and parental leave
🔹Protection of part-time and fixed-term workers
🔹Protection from discrimination

and many more.

Rishi Sunak and Steve Barclay didn’t lift a finger to prevent today’s strikes, despite the obvious risks to the public.

They drove NHS staff to strike, refused to negotiate, and now pose as helpless bystanders.

Patients will be in no doubt who is to blame for this chaos.

UNISON's strikes are going ahead tomorrow.

I had hoped the government would move on pay, to get this dispute resolved, but their position is still fixed.

We have no option but to continue with our strike action and consider more action in January.

Yes, absolutely, it's time to talk about NHS pay.

We've been asking the government to talk to us about pay for a long time - before we balloted our members for strike action, during the ballot, when we announced our strike dates and now.

The time’s come to admit the NHS in England has ceased to function as a proper emergency service. That’s not because of strikes: it’s why there are strikes. It’s failed because of deliberate neglect by a government that has always wanted to privatise it to end free care for all.

Just met with Steve Barclay to discuss emergency cover for the ambulance strikes tomorrow. We have negotiated local agreements for cover. The government could settle this today by making a serious pay offer.

Tomorrow we begin strike action – will you support us?

Wherever you are, tell us why you're backing the strike using and make sure nursing staff know you stand with them.
