At a conference in Iceland, reading Dr Hannah Roberts (she/her)'s powerful book about intentional careers for STEM women. My favourite quote: 'successes and failures are outcomes. They do not determine your self-worth'. I need this reminder everyday.

'Our in-person, peer support group is up and running. It is therapist and lived experience co-led, the aim being to create a sense of ‘us’ as opposed to the ‘them and us’ approach favoured by some but disliked by many'

Last year, I had a great time at the Kindness in Research Conference. Asking questions of (and being grilled by!) Bee and Jeanet, two excellent peer researchers on our modern slavery research project Modern Slavery Core Outcomes Set. We talked about research process ethics: vimeo.com/792757076
To make VAMH Data more accessible to violence researchers, we launched a Data Directory in 2019 to signpost datasets, repositories and published statistics with measures on VAMH. To access our Data Directory you can visit our website at: vamhn.co.uk/data-directory…

This week The Flying Child art group created these beautiful landscapes. You won’t see my picture in the video because as it turns out oil pastels are NOT my thing. That’s ok, I have a feeling that next week’s theme ‘scribbly dogs’ will be :)

📣 call for abstracts for a special issue of Violence Against Women Journal co-edited by Noelle Brigden, who is somehow as generous a friend & mentor as she is a courageous & rigorous scholar. journals.sagepub.com/page/vaw/call-…
Oddly this article doesn't mention that even with the increase the charge rate is... like 4%? Oh well. Check out Gavin Hales for detailed analysis on all this.
VAWG is a public health problem that the health system has a responsibility to address. Great to see the new #WomensHealthStrategy championing trauma-informed care for women, trauma training for providers, and support for providers who are survivors. Let's make this a reality.
Top tip from Lisa Ward
Interviews don't always have to be “boring” and objective. Share your experience with individuals to get rich data and reflect on that as a researcher! #kindnessinresearch
Definitely using the approach in my work #blackfeminist approach!
Thank you to Sohail Jannesari Bee, Jeanet Ariana Markowitz Lisa Ward and Jane Chevous 💙💜⛵ for your thought-provoking, reflective and inspiring talks and workshops at the #kindnessinresearch conference 🙏 you've given us lots to think about and apply in our own research!
Top tip to supervisors this time👀:
When your research students work with survivors/anti-racism research, look out for them. Maybe consider reflective supervision when they are doing fieldwork. Health/happy students=great “nuanced”outputs 🤷🏾♀️ #kindnessinresearch
