Typical Glazers this: after years of under investment as they bled the place dry, there is huge amount required to get United up to speed. And they'd much rather someone else did the heavy lifting.

Putting these elements together, I estimate that the Glazers have taken out £1.1 bln from #MUFC (interest £743m, debt repayments £147m, dividends £166m, directors remuneration £55m & management fees £23m). Total cost to United rises to £1.6 bln if £465m share sales are included.

To those patronising #mufc fans, saying ‘this isn’t the way’, what would you like them to do? Failed by government when Glazers came in. They tried every form of polite protest. They set up a Phoenix club. The owners do not engage. What else is left but non-violent direct action?

In time, making Manchester United supporters fall out of love with Solskjaer could be Woodward's ultimate low. That, however, will take an awful lot more and the heat will first turn on this abject group of players and a hierarchy entirely out of their depth.

Man Utd have done the easy bit and sacked Mourinho, whose negativity has infected the whole playing side. The harder part is changing the club, which is a commercial deal-making factory gone wrong.
