It's really quite staggering that the agency legislated to advise the Australian Government on climate does not include science or human rights in its 'pillars' of emissions targets advice.

Inflation hurts. But the ABS's official 🇦🇺CPI doesn't include higher interest on mortgages. If you do, the *true* cost of living is much higher--especially for workers. And the RBA is actually making that worse. Jim Stanford explains in The New Daily: thenewdaily.com.au/finance/2024/0…

Would we allow 12 new coal power stations in Darwin?

No, that would be completely unacceptable.

But Tamboran's Middle Arm gas export project would have emissions equivalent to 12 coal power stations.

Utter climate vandalism

The govt is also being asked to invent new ways of generating carbon offsets so the fossil fuel industry can keep fossiling & the offset industry can keep profiting. Again, it would be far more efficient and effective to just pay people to reduce emissions directly.

The real reason why the NSW Govt hasn’t fulfilled its promise to protect the koala habitat on the mid-north coast: they are waiting until they can exploit the forest for carbon credits, allowing it to be logged in the meantime.

Memo to Peter Costello: if you want to stay chair of Nine (Independent, Always) you can’t do fundraisers with Liberal candidates like Tim Wilson. Best you pull out of this one before 5pm today before any more tickets are sold.
