Popped into ⁦Imperial War Museums⁩ to visit Waikaha again, the LRDG Chevrolet 30 cwt truck discovered in the Egyptian desert in 1980. Believed to be from one of the Long Range Desert Group's original New Zealand patrol vehicles c.1941.

Remember the episode 'Why We Fight?' Easy Company was part of a group of US troops which came across a Nazi German concentration camp. Many consider it the finest episode of a fine series.

To help understand you should look at the earlier Balkan Wars. Topsin mansion and the grave of Hasan Tahsin Pasha. Here the Ottomans surrendered Thessaloniki to the Hellenic forces during the First Balkan’s War 1912.

I spotted this photograph of comedian Harry Worth on FB, but what caught my eye was his real name and date of birth:

Harry Bourlon Illingsworth,
20th November 1917

He was clearly named after the fight for Bourlon Wood at the start of the Cambrai Battle.
Do any of you know why?

Following the Thessaloniki story of Jerzy Iwanow-Szajnowicz. Athlete, spy and agent. A true 🇵🇱 🇬🇷 hero credited with sinking two U-Boats and downing several Nazi planes by sabotaging their engines. Captured and escaped more than once, he was executed by the Germans in 1943
