Clinical time is in pediatric cell therapy, BMT, and apheresis. Lab time is spent studying T cells. Mom to a pretty great kid. Views are my own.

In a study supported by #PIDDN , Alex Doan, Kat Mueller, PhD, Andy Chen, Mackall Lab, Evan Weber, et al. showed that overexpressing FOXO1 increases the antitumor activity of #CARTcells in preclinical models nature nature.com/articles/s4158….
Congratulations on an absolute tour de force from Evan Weber Kat Mueller, PhD Alex Doan Andy Chen. So happy to see this out.
In vitro models of CD8 T cell exhaustion make high-throughput interrogation easy, but can they be used to discover real Tex biology with therapeutic relevance?
Read to find out! In our new work from the E. John Wherry lab, out now at Science Immunology, we...

Thrilled to share our paper published today in Nature Cancer showing MHC-I-negative tumors remain susceptible to CD8+ T cell killing via NKG2D, challenging the notion that MHC-I loss is a resistance mechanism against T cell-dependent immunotherapy

Our work from the Jordan and PearLab is out in Cell Reports. Thanks to all who helped with this cool project looking at the role of Trib1 in regulating T cell exhaustion and effector states. E. John Wherry R. Babak Faryabi Oishi Bardhan Dr. Amy Baxter Dr. Josephine Giles
This is amazing Michael Triebwasser !!! What a great project and paper. Congrats all the way around, friend :)
Dr. Caroline Diorio was recently featured in CEO Council discussing what it means to live and work in the life sciences in the greater Philadelphia area. Read more at: ms.spr.ly/6019gjXo9.
It is such a privilege to work with this amazing group in our Cell Therapy and Transplant Section, at Cancer Center @ CHOP and Penn Medicine, and with our terrific referring docs. 85% of our CAR T pts come from outside our area.
Looking forward to fast manufacturing!@NovartisCancer
Join us in recognizing a Children's Hospital milestone: CHOP treated its 500th patient with CAR T-cell #immunotherapy ! 11 years have passed since Emily Whitehead received the “living drug” pioneered by Penn & CHOP researchers. Today, she remains cancer free. ms.spr.ly/6014gAPwr
A conversation today…how do you say the transcription factor Eomes?? It seems that every lab I’ve been acquainted with does so differently.

Studying human pediatric and mouse IgA deficiency, in collaboration with silverman lab, shows increasing exposure of commensal microbes to the systemic immune response yields immune dysregulation -- helping understand why only some IgA deficient patients are symptomatic!
