A qu! Off to Winchelsea to see Polypodium cambricum again (March RPR target) & get spore sample as noted Sussex Botanical Recording Society Plant Atlas lists a P. x font-queri there. Does this hybrid have no spores, deformed spores. Not sure what I'd be looking for! Thanx Sylvatica Brad Scott

Dumortiera hirsuta (Fairlight Glen). Polypodium cambricum, Polypodium sp. prob vulagare & Umbilicus rupestris growing epiphytically on Fraxinus excelsior & abundantly on old walls (Winchelsea). More like Devon than East Sussex! BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland Sussex Botanical Recording Society BBSBryology Sylvatica

In a walk through the Babylon Down woods, Willingdon, Eastbourne, sad to see many dead Fraxinus excelsior; many still covered with Lecanora chlarotera/hybocarpa & Metzgeria furcata. Good to see 3 young Daphne laureola in the woods though Woodland Trust🌳 BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland

Only a quick snap but this Ranunculus ficaria (Lesser Celandine) is notable for being the first for 2024 I have seen locally here in the Sussex High Weald. Sussex Botanical Recording Society

On 01.01.24 on a BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland I spotted a Daphne laureola in Goring in West Sussex. It had buds but was not in flower. I made a note to go back in a few weeks to see what it's flowers are like. I went back today. Pleased I did. Gorgeous. Sussex Botanical Recording Society

We've updated the website recently. As the focus is on updating the RPR we'll be posting monthly lists of plants to look for.
Members can access the historical records & sign up for RPR emails.
