Below a watercolour “My memory Normandy 6th June 1944” by WW2 veteran hero Bill Gladden, who died yesterday aged 100. One of the last, but never forgotten, of the Greatest Generation.

Very sad to share that D Day veteran William 'Bill' Gladden died earlier today. Our volunteer @paulcook said, 'It was one of the biggest privileges in my life to have known Bill. I will miss him dearly – he was one of our greatest heroes and also my friend. Travel well Bill.” 🇬🇧

Today, on St George’s Day, our volunteer Micky Harris, who founded the Taxi hailing app UnifyLondon which supports charities, was invited to an event at No 10.

Taxi Charity So when Mark came rolling towards me at Charing Cross station, it was all one-handed. He had done most of the marathon with just one hand as his other shoulder was out of action. Unbelievable achievement by this man. humbled by his achievement

Today many of our drivers and volunteers will join family and friends to say a final goodbye to WWII veteran Tom Schaffer. Stand at ease sir, your duty is done.
