i get more chill over the years because i've kept tabs on loads of things over the last ~20 years and for the most part very very few things persist, and the things that do end up being transformed by their persistence, so there's actually much less to worry about than it seems

Every year since 2006 at least 60% of Americans thought crime in the US was increasing. In reality, the violent crime rate (there aren't national stats of low level crime) is down >20% since then.

There will be many quotes thrown around in honor of MLK Day today and tomorrow. But, we should be mindful of what King said in 1967 here in Atlanta: economic justice and racial justice cannot be disaggregated. The failure of Reconstruction policy caused multi-generational harms.
