The statement it is making is: that you are indifferent to the suffering of millions of African women. The depiction of FGM on the knickers is gross and offensive. Our abuse is not fashion.

“This is about women and the control of women’s bodies.”

Despite outcry from activists and survivors, ’s parliament advanced a bill to decriminalise female genital mutilation. If the bill is passed, the country could become the first to reverse a ban on FGM.

Population growth and instability in areas of high prevalence of female genital mutilation means that we are continuing to fight an uphill battle.

A global alliance for FGM elimination is needed now more than ever.

Ending female genital mutilation (FGM) is a human rights issue.

We all have a responsibility to push forward for women & girls EVERYWHERE.

We join UN The Gambia and our Regional Goodwill Ambassador Jaha Marie Dukureh to call for an end to this harmful practice.

It's time to now!

📣 There is no justification whatsoever for Female Genital Mutilation.

Upholding the law isn't just right, it's the best thing to do!

The attack on the anti-FGM bill by an extremist cleric in Gambia is just the first step in rolling back legislation that protects women’s and girls in the Country. I am incredibly proud of the work Jaha Marie Dukureh and others are doing but the UK especially needs to do more.

Last October, a woman whose daughter was cut without her consent reported the case to the police. I accompanied her when she was asked to report, however when we got there, the police kicked us out saying they had orders from the top to not take !
