There is no such thing as a ‘funding black hole’ for public services. The government simply refuses to pay for the service we expect it to provide, ie comprehensive and universal healthcare. It could correct this tomorrow if it chose to.

At a certain point, it’s no longer an innocent fraud. It’s raw intellectual dishonesty. Still amazes me how many on the “left” play along.

I hope this is performative - not genuine because if we’re about to get a chancellor who really believes that markets are the lifeblood of our economy then we’re doomed to endure more austerity. State spending is the lifeblood of any fiat economy 1/

The 'lifeblood' of the economy is the government deficit, without which the private sector has no surplus and an economy cannot function.

Watch the video linked in the post. Then ask yourself why UnitedHealth/Optum have been invited in to have such an influence on changing the NHS. Thx to Taz for watching & caring from the USA.

Before you call anyone ‘bed blockers’ (horrible term) consider what David Oliver says here and remember that the NHS may be absolutely the only place of refuge when ‘home’ is unsafe. It shouldn’t be so, but it is.

House of Lords is expected to consider relevant Statutory Instrument next week. I have put down regret motion, which should bring debate into main chamber. More info when I have it

The family practice model of GPs based long-term close to our homes and offering access to a highly qualified diagnostician to everyone as standard is under threat and has been for quite a while. When it is completely broken it will be extremely difficult to fix.

No offence to pharmacists, but I do have thoughts about whether we should be handing more of our primary care over to Boots and Superdrug... (THREAD) >

Declaring war on the poor. In what universe is this anything other than immoral? I have been citing figures like these. Yet again, scarcely can I believe that society would reduce education spending at all, let alone reduce it more for disadvantaged children.
