April 25, 1924: Charles F. Murphy, the longest-serving chairman of New York’s Tammany Hall Democratic organization (since 1904), dies at 65 at home of indigestion. The mild-mannered boss held sway over state and city politics and was a powerbroker at presidential conventions.

As someone who literally owes her life to those who fought on the allied side during WW2 I'll never forget.
My father's family was starving, my mother's family was close to death in a Japanese concentration camp.
I came very close to never being born.
Eternal gratitude.
