This special issue on knowledge equity was a labour of love (with a hell of a lot of both labour and love over two years). All credit (and no blame) to the best co-editors ever Helen Nichols and paula harriott
Another moving IPP story from Simon Hattenstone. Martin Myers and his family have suffered unimaginably for years. theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/m…
There is blatant discrimination and a failure of natural justice here. Shame on Blunkett and the Labour Government that introduced this sentence.
Another mad day. Aren't they all at this stage with Everton?
Anyway, a summary of what we know on 777 payments, takeover etc. Ft a new one - Australian budget airlines.

New publication alert! 'Probation as social work' in the Probation Journal. I argue that (as everyone knows in their heart and despite political posturing) #probation is and always has been social work. Acknowledging this would enhance policy and practice doi.org/10.1177/026455…
Having led a piece of work on the criminalisation of children in residential care for The Howard League, it’s so depressing to read this. There has been progress on the details (and some principles), but the overall picture of funding etc is abysmal theguardian.com/society/2024/a…
I couldn’t agree more Tim Newburn The IPP sentence is a stain on the justice system of E&W. Far too many (1,269 in Dec 2023) remain in prison on this sentence despite it being abolished in 2012. The cases of all those remaining should be reviewed with a view to release.
