I’m in Belfast and can remember when I first came here by train from Dublin. Now, alighting at Lanyon Place Station (then called Belfast Central) and strolling through this vibrant city centre, it’s unrecognizable from militarized dead zone it once was. The vibe here is terrific.

He was 'mad, bad, and dangerous to know.'

Or so one of his numerous, mistreated mistresses put it.

Yet, like no one else, he wrote poetry that captured the spirit of his age.

And perhaps our own.

He died, 200 years ago, yesterday.
