This was lovely. ‘Operation Mincemeat’ won Best New Musical at this year’s Oliviers. Some view the theatre-maker/reviewer relationship as adversarial; actually, it’s a privilege to champion talent that, like here, we’re lucky enough to witness early in people’s careers.

Saw a lovely, child-friendly adaptation of A Christmas Carol today. It was only made more delightful by a very little girl joyfully yelling ‘Bob Catshit!’ when Scrooge’s aforementioned (and otherwise name-unmangled) clerk turned up.

Unofficial criterion: must also all have pediments.

I’m having the time of my life, quite frankly, ahead of the last Tennant/Tate Doctor Who special this evening. I’ve got people coming over but, to be honest, would I do this on my own, anyway? Probably.

My parents didn’t want presents for their 50th anniversary yesterday. So, with the help of old Polaroids, aunts with long memories and *much* late-night cursing over royal icing, I recreated their wedding cake instead.

Why does this ad look like a poster for a gritty, state-of-the-nation play?

Getting a joke after everyone else (something I frequently do): a laughterthought.

This week’s family holiday can’t come a moment too soon. I just answered my doorbell to no one because I got confused by my TV surround sound.
