City Council has a chance to take action by doubling landlord registration fees for the RentSafeTO program and hiring more inspectors to fill in the gaps in enforcement.

There are 3500 apartment buildings across the city registered with RentSafe, and only 35 full-time staff for the program. Too many tenants live in units in severe disrepair, and RentSafe needs the tools and funding to hold landlords accountable.
