Juan Luis Vives’s De institutione foeminae Christianae has been reprinted several times over the last five centuries. My new essay in the Journal of the Early Book Society explores these reprints and how the text has been interpreted.

Mary I was born #onthisday in 1516.

The daughter of Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon, she succeeded to the throne on the death of Edward VI and was crowned at the Abbey in 1553. She is buried in the Abbey's Lady Chapel.
