A memorial near Hofmann's home: “Swiss chemist and discoverer of LSD. Lived and researched from 1941 to 1968 in Bottmingen, on Gustacker (Oberwillerstrasse 41), where he discovered the hallucinogenic effects of LSD as part of a self-experiment.” Thanks to my Swiss friend Sandra.

Alan Piper Something spiritual… A way to reconnect to a thing that we’ve lost, and this is when Terence McKenna’s message of the archaic revival really began resonating.

The Christians were the butt of the joke, think ChurchLady on SNL… the culture should have flipped over by now… ⏳

Alan Piper The politically correct crowd should have become the butt of the joke a long time ago, regarding cycles of culture & counterculture… Being that we’re in this artificial nightmare, however, we are not allowed to rejoice in the organic experience unless we pay 1k for the trip? 💵

Alan Piper For this shamanic experience to be distilled, sterilized, and ripped out of its cultural context only to be converted from something spiritual protected by religious freedom into a Controlled Psychiatric Medication in a Hospital setting- is much more like Hell than a bad trip.

Alan Piper The Christians would have embraced the concept of a bad trip, telling you to go ahead and experience hell so you don’t have to do it for real… This is the entire notion of dying before you die.

This archetypical meta is hidden in the combined works of early Christian Texts

Alan Piper And what you’re saying is correct… There should be a context for a bad trip in today’s world- in this new era of psychiatry… Because even that is a healthy engagement with the shadow, but due to the cultural inversion, the bad trips will be seen as a flaw instead of the Feature

Alan Piper So it has become a moneymaking venture, and legitimized as psychiatry… And what that means is that the visionary experience will be removed so that a prescripted outcome is controllable- and there will be responsible parties to sue.

This makes it hugely complicated now

Alan Piper As far as counterculture, that’s difficult to say as we’ve been in an artificial cycle since the early 90’s. The real era began with Bill Hicks on Tool’s album, Ænema. In that context, psychedelics were ‘that which revived genius in a washed out world.’ It became something more,

Western psychedelic evangelism has long been a religious movement pretending to be scientific, believing to have transcended religion while creating its own founding myths and saints. Maybe fitting for religion, but for science, it is too comfortable with narrative manipulation.
