Our friend Alexandra and colleagues from ULB Center for Diabetes Research indicate a predominant role for the interferons, both IFN-α and IFN-γ, in the pathogenic response observed at the beta cell level in as compared with a milder impact of IL-1β and TNF-α.

Very interesting review in Nature Rev Endocrinol on putative endotypes in T1D. Endotypes indicate unique pathological processes that require specific treatments – are we indeed already able to define reliable endotypes of T1D?
