If Mayor Eric Adams & Chancellor David C. Banks truly cared about making our schools safe, they’d baseline funding for mental healthcare, restorative justice & the other programs that actually make us feel supported in school—not add more scanners.
Today the New York City Council is holding a preliminary budget hearing on the NYPD. The NYPD's proposed budget for FY25 would exceed last year's by $300M.
Students in our Teen Activist Project showed up to say: Enough. In the streets or in our schools, more cops do not make us safer.
Today NYC Students called on @nyccouncil and @nycmayor to prioritize our care, not criminalization.
