The fire guard in the Drawing Room at Tabley features the banner of King Charles 1st from the Battle of Edgehill in 1643 on one side and a restoration of the banner made in 1877 on the other. Both sides feature the monarch's motto of the United Kingdom, 'God and my right'.

The THC interns have been able to handle some of the incredibly vibrant quilts in the collection. Both the tumbling block pattern and hexagonal flower mosaic contain their original foundation papers, preserving scrap fragments of regency handwriting as charming time capsules!

Hello! Foodie message from our Tabley House interns:

The Tabley House receipt book contains some delicious historic recipes that look familiar to us today like lamb pie and rice pudding. There are also some less familiar concoctions… oyster sausages anyone?

It’s always great connecting students with industry and it was fantastic to have Annabel Turpin from Storyhouse come and discuss with arts management students what it means to be a CEO of an Arts Organisation and the opportunities and challenges in the sector!
