On the 3rd of May 1968 Major Jerry Gentry (USAF) was in the pilots seat of the Northrop HL10 for its 5th flight. The vehicle achieved a speed of 731 kilometres per hour from an altitude of 13,716 meters. The unpowered glide lasted 4 minutes and 5 seconds. Photos and info NASA.
