1/ Listening non-judgmentally is not something therapists learn from a book or class. It takes years of work. We can listen without judging because we have examined the dark corners of our own souls in personal psychotherapy. What you think shocking, we know to be simply human.

I find the therapy bad discourse so frustrating. It’s mostly cherry picked examples of the worst versions of therapy or just outright falsehoods. Then the flood if comments following it cheering on is infuriating when there are really problems going unaddressed in the field.

I cannot count how many times I have had to express this sentiment to my supervises. When i noticed this within myself is when I first began to feel like I was doing something meaningful with clients.

Its amazing how many relational problems stem from presenting yourself as who you assume others would like. Over time they become attached to that person and you become miserable living someone else's life.

A person urging you to understand them is a teacher.
A person making efforts to understand you is a psychotherapist.

Instead, we find someone else to make into the demon.

Many are deaf, dumb, and blind to the hate & cruelty that resides within them.

Instead, they project it onto someone else and vilify them.
