Presenting my poster at 🇬🇹 I explore the formation of an obsidian facies found within a Plinian air fall deposit. It was great to discuss what the contributing processes might be telling us about eruption transitions and glass behaviour! Thanks again to Yorkshire Geological Society !

New paper! 🌋
How does the structure of a silicic volcanic vent change during its evolution? When do tuffisites form? And what role do they play?
Check out our paper on the Mule Creek vent:

Work in progress:
volcanic plumes may be able to scrub up to c.65 mol.% of the SO2 that is erupted in large magnitude events. This is best recorded in leachate data, which invariably records hot sulfate salt formation on ash surfaces, related to SO2 scavenging.

New paper! Here's our experimentally validated constitutive model for the Darcian and inertial permeabilities of sintered materials. These measurements were completed in 2017. And now, after a long rest in our harddrives, they can see the light of day!

Work Hard, Play Hard
This week some of our later year PhDs have been on a writing retreat to focus on finishing manuscripts and theses. They've also enjoyed activities provided by Firbush
