LAST CHANCE - to see at British Museum a display of the WBG Trust's recent gift of 12 major Barns-Graham works on paper to the Museum's incredible Prints & Drawings collection. The display is in gallery G90a in the Prints and Drawings area until 12 May - not to be missed!!

It's coming to the end of April, and we haven't had an April picture, so here is Untitled (April), a wonderfully expressive Barns-Graham painting in acrylic on paper from 2001.

This extract from WBG’s 1976 diary demonstrates the artist’s sensitivity to colour, & how she experienced her surroundings. In her description of the sea & weather in St Ives, she mentions pinks & browns, fitting given the recent popularity of her 1991 print, Orange & Red on Pink

Fascinating store discovery- a study made by WBG around 1998-99 in developing what would turn out to be 2 screenprints, Summer (yellow) & Blue Light, Summer, made with Kip Gresham. It appears that she was experimenting with a 2 colour background before deciding on the 2 versions.
