High Crag via Sheepbone Rake - what a slog! Then a stroll to High Stile and Red Pike. Buttermere was heaving when I got back.

Enjoyable walk with The Wainwright Society from Staveley to Potter Tarn and then back via Side House which Wainwright sketched in ‘Outlying Fells’-the owner appeared and was there when AW sketched Side House c1972 and remembers it as his pet Jackdaw stole AWs pencil ! Barf, Lord's Seat and Broom Fell. As I'd come up from Powter How the extensive forestry closures were a bit unexpected but I made it back with a little detour.

If you were above 600m today you probably enjoyed a day not dissimilar to this! Islands in the sky poking up through the cloud courtesy of todays temperature inversion. It was 9°C on the top of today compared with the chilly 2°C in Glenridding! Wes
