Local hustings last night for the next Police and Crime Commissioner. Election is May 2nd.

Disappointed not to hear much in the way of details on how ASPolice Roads Policing (RPU) can contribute to . Image shows pedestrian collision.

The Low Traffic Neighbourhood review referenced a study that found LTNs reduce all injuries by 50% (85% for pedestrians) with no increase on boundary main roads.

LTNs should be a core foundation of your council's Road Danger Reduction Strategy.

A rubbish idea.
If needed making homeowners pay for an approved installer to put a cable channel in could work.
But needs to be linked to a parking permit as it will make drivers even more territorial about road space. Could also make pavement parking even worse

Your reminder that LTNs are the best in class, cheapest, road danger reduction intervention, reducing pedestrian injuries by 85%. Every other secondary benefit (more walking/wheeling & cycling, less crime, better community cohesion) is a result of creating safer streets for all.

A familiar problems to many in Bath

We need transport equity. That means B&NES Council removing discriminatory barriers on public rights of way.

And it means Avon and Somerset Police enforcing existing laws around dangerous obstruction of the footway.

Owen Hopkins Farrell Centre The purpose of unclassified roads is clearly defined in the 100 year old Road Classification Hierarchy.

LTNs typically just removes through traffic from unclassified roads, something your local Highways Authority should have been doing anyway. gov.uk/government/pub…

Whenever someone tells me they're not a very confident cyclist or they're 'a bit wobbly' I am like...
It's not you! You shouldn't have to be 'confident' in order to cycle. The road should be designed to enable you to cycle and other road users (drivers) should look out for you.

Someone on a cycle was hit by a driver on Upper Bristol Road yesterday, where the protected cycle lane ends 😢

We need continuous, safe cycle routes if we want more people to take up cycling
