1/3 Ragwort is a much maligned plant yet it is really important to a whole range of insects who benefit from its nectar and pollen and for other insects it provides food for their early stages. Butterfly Conservation 🦋

Exciting morning with this Hawfinch feeding in the yew tree in our garden. Very elusive and eventually flew off west at 13.50.

The female Ring-necked Duck still present at Messingham Sand Quarries today. A heavily cropped shot with the bird frustratingly spending all of its time at the back of the lake Lincsbirders.org Lincsbirding .

This local Kestrel showed extremely well. It had a metal ring on the right leg but unfortunately couldn't quite read it.

Mostly the light was poor but just occasionally when the Glossy Ibis in Scunthorpe turned at a certain angle you could see some stunning colours Lincsbirding

I can remember twitching my first Glossy Ibis in Kent in the mid 1980's and now there is one on my doorstep in a small ornamental park in Scunthorpe showing down to feet. It's a crazy world. using a Panasonic GH4 SWAROVSKI OPTIK Lincsbirding

Opposite my place of work in Scunthorpe are a couple of Rowan trees which I have said for years will attract some Waxwings, well today was that day when 2 were seen. They brightened up a dull, wet and windy morning.

BULWER'S PHEASANT, one of the rarest pheasants in Borneo. Once very difficult to spot, with the only opportunity during the fruiting season in Maliau Basin. Now, easily seen. Sep 2023.

1 of 2 Pallid Swift at Far Ings, Barton this afternoon. We got a call of a swift sp drifting east at Barton, N. Lincs so shot down and quickly relocated it. After watching it for a good while I found a 2nd bird with both drifting out over the Humber at 16.30 Lincsbirding .
